crafting this afternoon and look what I did. I had 4 boring candles

and look at them now. Potential Christmas pressies :-)

Well thats all the crafting I've had time for.

My mixed media canvas, that I started the other week, is hanging on the wall in my craft room, but it's not finished yet and definetly not ready for the world to see. I am hoping to get some more done to that this week.

Oh I nearly forgot, I did manage to fit a wee bit of drawing in this morning, while munching on a bacon roll. Much to the disgust of my son, who now says I'm weird, because? .......... I drew my very first manga elf.

I am quite pleased with it, for a first try, but going to try and draw a better one during the week

... holiday for a whole week. I have had the house to myself and it is so quiet, even with 3 dogs and 6 chickens!!!

I learnt a new stamping thingy this morning ..... a resist technique ... it was in the November issue of Craft Stamper. As I didn't have all the materials that were used in the magazine , I had to improvise with what I had. I made a thank you card for the tenants at the sheltered housing court where I used to work, to thank them for the fuss they made of me and the gifts I received when I left my job so I could go to college.

I have a few ideas going round in my head now of other ways I could use this technique. It was good to be crafting again :-)

squeeze a bit of crafting into my day ....... Hooray hooray

One of my projects at college is a magazine project and we are to decorate our project book to reflect what is inside. Well my magazine brief is for an arts and culture magazine called Juxtapoz and I am thinking of doing a feature on Alterd Art, but I haven't totally made up my mind about that yet. Anyway here is my very boring grey sketch book before I altered it

Thanks to some Paper Artsy stamps, which I stamped onto colourful magazine pages, my ATC that was published in Craft Stamper magazine and my trusty Sakura glaze pens, my book looks like this.....

I might add some ribbons or fibres on the spiral spine, but that is it for now as I've got to get on with some real work for another college project that has to handed in this week.

... for my blog. Been having a wee play in photoshop today with a few things that I have done at college. Just put them all together with my favourite fairy ATC. Not totally happy with it, but it will do for now for a wee change. I need to have a play around in Illustrator and get more familiar with that, than I might come up with another banner.

I've been at college for 4 weeks already. It's been hard with having to work, a house to keep and my dogs and chickens too .... but I am enjoying every minute of it and learning so much.

Been playing in Photoshop today and the 2 prints that I made in art class have come together quite nicely .. if I do say so myself :)

The Draymin are back together ........
....so my son has just told me. Now the music over the last few weeks coming from their so called sound proof hut was a bit of a give away to that happening. Here's my favourite Draymin song at the moment

I don't think Queenie (my chicken) likes the Draymin, she hasn't laid an egg for days now. Oh well! can't please everyone..... she will just have to get used to hearing them rehearse.

my first week at college and I've even managed to find time to do my "homework". All the class had to make personality posters over the weekend to hand in on Monday (last Monday that is). Here's mine in all it's glory, LOL

we then had to stand up on Monday morning and explain to the class what we had done and why. It helped break the ice and we all found out a wee bit about one another. They are all now hanging on the wall in one of our class rooms. LOL just got to get on with my "homework thats to be handed in on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It's like being back at school, but better. I should have done this years ago.

have been happening...........well exciting for me anyway!!
Thursday was my 1st day at college, a bit nerve wracking but mostly exciting. I'm the oldest in the class, my class mates are all teenagers :-) but that is fine, they seem a good bunch and I can see we are all going to have some fun.
Thursday was also exciting because my new computer arrived. I've been needing a new one for ages, so decided to treat myself as I would be needing it for my college work.
Boss knewI would be going to college (she encouraged me to go for it!!) and is letting me split my shift in two. So I will be doing half my shift in the morning starting at 6am and then the other half whenever I get home from college.
Dora the hen has been laying an egg every day noo for over a week, just waiting for all the other hens to start laying too!!! come on girls!!!! we want eggs!!!

It's been a long long time

since I last blogged, in fact it is over a month and so much has happened that this will be a bit of a long blog. The last 8 weeks I have been busy with all the pups and having families coming to view them and keeping the puppy blog updated. It is quiet around here now that all the pups have gone to their new homes, but there has not been much crafting going on. The big living room make-over came to a halt, but is starting to to get done now.

I have had exciting 3 things happen since my last blog. The first thing, you might remember me saying in a previous blog in April that I had done something that I had wanted to do since I was 16. Well, I have been accepted at college (me! whoo hoo I'm going to college) to study Graphic Design and New Media. I'm so excited and nervous, but if I don't do this now when I've been given the chance than I'll never do it and would look back and regret it. So I'm off to college at the end of August.

The second thing that happened was I had one of my ATC's published in August's Craft Stamper magazine. How excited was I when I saw my ATC with my name on the page? Everyone was fed up with me showing it to them. I have had artwork published before in an advertisement, but my name wasn't on it, so no one knew I had done it. So this was special to me.
The third thing that happened was, my chickens have arrived. When I first thought of getting chickens I was just going to get 3, then it was maybe 5, but then I had to have one more, so I now have 6 chickens. Still waiting for my first egg though!!

Above we have my Issa Brown hen called Dora, who my grandson Kian named, he also named the Sussex Star (white hen) Iggle Piggle for his wee brother Kailub. Kian was great with the chickens and loved it when Dora ate out of his hand. Below we have my Rhode Rock hen called Abby, in honour of the Buckfast monks (my sons choice of name).

At the end of my last blog, I rememered orange squash, I used to make this from my grans and mum recipe when my children were growing up. I have started to make it again, but it never lasts long, my children (all adults) still love it and so does my grandsons. I might post the recipe here in a future blog. I also have started making home made bread, which so far has been turning out quite well, still room for improvement though.

I also managed a day out at the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston, Edinburgh. I had a totally great day, as always there was so much to see and do.

...a week since I last blogged! How do people find time to blog every day?

Last weekends BBQ went well and it was great catching up with my sister and 2 brothers and their wives and my nieces and nephews. We don't live that far apart, but we don't see one another enough we are all too busy do our own things. My uncle Mike was there too, he has been staying at my mums (well it is her brother) for a wee holiday before he flies back to Australia on Monday. This will most probably be the last time I see him unless I win the lottery and pluck up enough courage to get on a plane. If I was meant to fly I would have wings!!!

The big living room make-over (to shabby chic) has kinda come to a stand still, but it will get finished. anyway I did get the TV unit painted so here is the before photo

and here is the after photo with my new TV on top. Daughters TV broke so had to get an new TV so she could get the old one, so good reason to get new one LOL

Look at my OH veg petch (as our grandson calls it) everything is growing well. That's my chicken run in the background, more about that in the days to come.

Now our grandson Kian wanted to plant his own tottie (like he did last year) , so he planted one in a big tub. Here is your tottie noo Kian

I managed to snap this photo of a greenfinch the other morning, they are nesting in our garden. We also have blackbirds, blue-tits, thrushes and wrens that I know of nesting in our garden this year.

The pups are all growing and getting livelier by the day,I have been busy looking after the pus and I have updated the puppy blog today.

My only crafting this week has been a wedding card and a guestbook. So pleased that I managed to squeeze a wee bit of crafting into my week.

and finally (I bet your glad) look what came doon oor street today........

Natalie a young lassie from up oor street was getting married and this was her transport. It was just a pity it kept raining on her special day. What a way to travel and the horses were stunning, Oh! and so was the bride.

At last it is the end, I think I have covered just about everything. I've just remembered orange juice, but that will have to wait for another day!

one of my blue orfs (fish) has died. I found him floating in the pond :-( He had lived in my pond for 6 years and had grown to about 12 inches long. He has left behind his orf friends, another blue orf and two golden orfs and a wee baby golden orf. I hope he is orf to fish heaven :-) He was buried in the garden and he smelt orf-ful.......

anyway been really busy .... whats new?
pups are all growing and getting livelier by the day and shittin' more
pond still has a leak somewhere
chicken run is built OH is sorting oot the coop
Oh veggies are all growing and so are the weeds
bought a new TV
ordered wine making stuff (going to make elderflower wine) ... do I really have time to make wine?
made two lovely quiches and a batch of drop scones ... they're all gone noo!!
not a single bit of crafting has been done this week, I must get creating again, I must find the time!
Going to a BBQ tomorrow at ma mums, a bit of a family gathering

Off to give pups their supper and then relax for a wee while before bed.

What a scorcher.....

this weekend has been. It's been far too hot for me to get any gardening done, I would have been burnt to a crisp :-)

So I started on a wee project (that's turning out to be a bigger project) in the hoose. My living room needs a total make-over and I am going for the shabby chic country look. I managed to pick up a pine dresser from a local secondhand shop at a very good low price (I hate partin' with hard earned cash) and this is going to get a makeover too. I've been looking for a secondhand extending pine table and chairs, but had no luck. Then thought why part with cash when the table and chairs I already have are sturdy and serve the purpose that they were made for. I'm just fed up with the dark mexican pine look. So here is a chair before makeover

and here is the chair after a wee make-over, painted with ivory satin paint and then rubbed with sandpaper on place that would wear to give it that distressed look. I love it :)

Now I've just got 3 more chairs, a table, a dresser and a tv unit to make-over. Then walls to paint, curtains and blinds to make, a new rug to buy. I think thats all.......

I had a sympathy card to make, so I kept it quite simple. I used the soft shimmery card that I used last year for the wedding invites.

Now as if I already don't have enough to do, my application is in the post for an allotment. There could be quite a waiting list so I should have time to get myself more organised before I get an allotment.

Measurements and plans have been done for my chicken hoose and run and friendly Mr PJ is going to order the wood for me (cause he's a joiner and can get it a wee bit cheaper). So I am starting to get excited, cause I could be gettin' ma chickens soon. woo hoo......

The pups all opened their eyes on Saturday and they are moving around a lot more. See videos and photos on the puppy blog.

Well I'm off now to do a bit of sanding and painting

Our friend and neighbour PJ got his new additions to his family before me!!! He is now the proud owner of 4 chickens and is already enjoying his free range eggs. Oh well I will be getting my chickens soon, got to get a chicken hoose and run built first.

Kailub (grandson) came and spent an afternoon with us last Friday and then Kian (other grandson) came straight from nursery to stay the night.

and here's S-J (my daughter, who will kill me when she see's her photo on here), she is in P-J's garden when we went to see his chickens. "S-J the chickens are on the ground, what can you see up there?"

Fearne and her pups are all doing well and I will be updating the puppy blog over the weekend.

The sun is oot so I'm off to enjoy it for a wee while, before I get stuck into some work.

Big catch up .....

This could turn out to be a very long post as it has been wee while since I last blogged. So here goes ......

Well where do I start? I think we must of had a sunny day since I last blogged, but for the life of me I can't remember when we didn't have rain rain rain!!! On that sunny day I snapped one of the frogs and a few fish with ma camera in the garden pond............

I haven't done much crafting in the last few weeks, but one thing I did get round to making was a fascinator for a lovely lady called Molly who is going to Italy next week for her grandsons wedding. She had been having trouble getting a fascinator to go with her outfit when I opened ma big mouth and said "I just made one the last time I needed one". Me and my big mouth LOL, anyway I thoroughly enjoyed making it for her and she loved it as the colours went perfect with her outfit. Anyone else needing a fascinator???? :-)

Now Sunday 17th May I was at by brothers house at a BBQ to celebrate my Niece Yasmine's 16th birthday. This day was sunny but didn't feel it 'cause of the cold cold wind that insisted on blowing through his garden. It was a bit of a family gathering and it was good to catch up with everyone. I had a really great time and the food was excellent, well done to the head chef, Mark.

I made Yasmine a birthday card and I used my favourite Stampotique stamps again. The foral papers are from DCWV The Pocket Full of Posies stack.

I had to leave the BBQ in a bit of a hurry as Fearne my border collie was having her pups. She had 7 in total, the most she has ever had. We've got 3 bitches and 4 dog pups so the puppy blog will be starting soon my my dogs website. Any one interesed in a pup please contact me.

Now that thing that I mention in a previous blog that I had always wanted to do is one step closer to maybe happening....... but I'm not ready to tell just yet

I'm on holiday all this week and today I'm going out for lunch with my mum and my daughter so I better go and get ready.

I'll try not to leave it so long between blogs, but I can't promise as I always seem to have so much to do

Well so much for my blogging ................ twice in one week and then nothing!!!!
It has been a very very busy week, what with everything I usually do and then I decided to go and do something I have been wanting to do since I was 16 ...... all will be revealed if everything goes to plan. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

Kailub had his 1st birthday and what a lovely sunny day it was, he loved all his pressies and his big brother Kian kept saying "bigger boys can play with these too!". I will add a few photos when I have a wee bit more time.

It's been a long busy brain draining eye weary day so I'm off for a wee glass of wine ..... ok a bottle!!....... and try to relax before bed ... not that I'll sleep .... far too much going on in my mad head to allow me to sleep. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)

Twice in one week......

I've managed to blog.............. could it be I've caught the blogging bug again? Well I think I must have caught something 'cause noo I've joined Twitter. "When have I got time to twitter?" I ask myself, "and who else do I know that twitters? no one yet!! So why am I twittering?"

Anyway it's been a good week, not much crafting been goin' on, been busy working on a new website for a friends business. Kian came for a visit on Thursday and we made crispie birds nest cakes..................a whole 36 of them

Then he helped make pizza for dinner and made a birthday card for his wee brother Kailubs 1st birthday next week............... kian is more organised than me, I haven't made mine yet.

Friday saw me getting all dressed up and going oot with my daughter S-J, I don't do much going oot so this was a big thing. Half a bottle of wine and many brandies and a good night was had by all, I even came home and finished off the bottle of wine before going to bed....... now I'm wondering what that really says about me........ I know! I really like wine :)

Nearly forgot ..... HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE ......... I'm off later to see all the grandchildren and give them their eggs and do the dreaded weekly food shop (I'd reather go to a craft shop)

since I last blogged. What a bad bad blogger I am, but then hey ho life just gets in the way of bloggin' sometimes :-)

So a quick update: Went to John and Leannes wedding and had a great day.

The weight I lost I found again LOL, must try lose it again.

Christmas was gooooood

I won £600 on the bingo

Kailub is walking and his 1st birthday is coming up very very soon.

Kian is a total chatterbox, never stops talking and asking questions. His favourite saying the noo is "are we going for a 'dawnda'? "

My craft stash is now back in the house as it was far too cold in the summerhouse over winter and my papers were getting damp.

Treated myself to a new sewing machine

and keep this quiet, just between me and you, don't let my OH know, I have an addiction. Sssshhhh my craft stash is growing, I keep seeing stamps I need and I do really neeeeed them LOL

Over the past year I haven't made many ATC's but I'm starting to get back into them again. I entered the ATC Swap competition on the Crafty Individuals website (I just love their stamps), I didn't win but was chuffed that 2 of my ATC's are on the competition page. There was lots of really brilliant ATC's entered into the competition and the 3 I received in the swap were lovely.

I have just posted my ATC's for April Craft Stamper magazine swap, the theme was Fairies and Fantasy. So I'm looking forward to see what swaps I receive.

I'm not just a bad blogger, but I'm also a bad Auntie as I forgot my neice Melissa's birthday. I think she has forgiven me as I still made her a card, even though it was late. The girl stamps are from Stampotique Originals and the papers are by Jane Bently Perfect Paper Collection, a free book from Crafts Beautiful magazine(I love a freebie)

Kailub was visiting, so oot came the camera, both my grandsons are used to getting their photo taken by their daft nanny who just can't get enough photos of them. This was my favourite photo of Kailub on that day

Then this weekend, Nanny, Grandad and Kian went a 'dawnda' to the Fife Animal Park. Once Kian knew we were going to get something to eat at the cafe he lost interest in the animals the thought of food took over and he couldn't get round the park quick enough LOL

Then when he had ate and drank his juice he noticed the play park, where he wanted to play and play and play
We had a good day, even though, grandad who knew where he was going missed the turning off the motorway so he took us the long scenic route LOL. It was a cold windy day, but we will be going back in the summer to see if the parrot (I think that's what it was) really said "I'm f--ked" and to visit my new friend

a quick update ..............

The puppies are all coming on fine, to see photos and videos just pop into their puppy diary.

Kailub is just soooo scrunchy and lovely with his mop of hair. I've never know a bairn to be born with so much hair. He is putting on weight and now weighs in at 9lb 6.5oz.

I've made all 100 invitations for John and Leannes wedding, just 60 Order of Service to complete noo. Below is a photo of the sample collection which Leanne chose for her invites.

The card has a beautiful shimmer to it, which the photo doesn't really pick up well. The tartan ribbon is a new modern tartan called The Pride of Bannockburn, which only came off the production line at the end of April. When I went to bed I couldn't get tartan ribbon and crystal hearts oot ma heed, but that wee side affect of making so many invites has noo left me :-)

The last couple of days have been wonderful hot sunny blue sky days................ summer is here ........... but for how long? Yesterday afternoon I was in my front garden giving it a very much needed tidy up. I was also diggin' (with my new spade) around the bottom of a down pipe which goes into the ground into a soak away, but needs replaced........ it's still not out but I now know which way my gas pipe runs :-) ............ well after all that diggin' I am a wee bit stiff and sore today ........ my OH keeps telling me "your not as young as you used to be", I think I already know that though. Now are you thinking, my OH should've been doin' the diggin' ?........ in the 25 years we have been married OH has always said "I don't do diggin'!!!" and he never has. Oooops! I tell a lie, he did dig a few holes when he was building the decking. But that was after he had sat and watched me dig the pond :-) luv him to bits .......... Talking of the pond I have at last found out where it is leaking from and this should be fixed very soon, which the frogs, tadpoles, newts, stiklebacks, blue orfs and golden orfs will all be pleased about. I love sitting beside the pond, it's like another wee world in there and it is so relaxing.

So much for this being a quick update, I've started to haver (pron: h-ave-er, meaning: Speak nonsense, normally assosiated with senility) .... yep that sounds like me :-)

The stork has been.........

and delivered a very special wee bundle of joy to my son and his fiancee. At 4 minutes past 5 this morning my second grandson was born weighing 7lbs 5 1/2 ozs. At first they hadn't decided on a name for him, but I have just been told he is Kailub Christopher. Christopher is after his dad, but where they got Kailub I don't know, but I'm liking it.

I've just done a name meaning search and found out that Kailub is a variant of Caleb and means "dog" in Hebrew. In the Old Testament this is the name of one of the twelve spies sent by Moses into Israel. Of the Israelites who left Egypt with Moses, Caleb and Joshua were the only ones who lived to see the promised land.

I am such a proud nanna ....... and I've just got to show off baby Kailub Christopher (photos taken by Christopher, his dad this morning)

Kian went shopping with his Auntie Sarah-Jane this afternoon with £3 in his pocket to spend and look what he came back with..........he's a mean and moody rock star in the making!!!!

Now I think that cost a wee bit more than £3.............was his Auntie spoiling him again?

Kian is away home noo and his dad is taking him to see his mum and new baby brother in the hospital. Hopefully they will both get home tomorrow.

I'm off noo to get something to eat and dye Sarah-Janes hair then have a couple of glasses of wine .... a wee bit of a girly night 'cause Colin is working till 1.30 am

The puppies are here.....

Fearne decided to go into labout last Friday (11th April) and I was thinking for once she was going to have her pups during the day. Fearne had other ideas though....... she hung on to her pups until just after 1am when she gave birth to the first wee bundle ............. I sat with her all night while she delivered pup after pup until the last one, puppy number 6, was born just after 7am. I was shattered, but Fearne was totally exhausted, she fed her pups and we both managed to get about an hours sleep before the rest of the household woke up.

Fearne had 4 bitches and 2 dog pups, sadly on Sunday morning one of the dog pups died. This was my first puppy death and it was such a shock to find a poor wee dead pup. I had a wee puppy funeral in my garden.

I will be updating my dogs website very soon and adding a new puppy diary with photos, videos and updates on the pups progress.

I'm back at work now and my holiday week just flew by so quickly. So it is back to normal, working in the morning and then doing whatever else needs done when I get home. I'v a couple of websites to update and the wedding stationery I've been asked to do. I will add photos of the wedding stationery when it is all complete. I've also got to find time to get some ATC's done for this months swaps.......

I'm still keeping to my Scottish Slimmers eating plan and so far I've lost 9.5 lbs which I am quite pleased with.

There's still no sign of my 2nd grandson being born yet, he is over a week late now, so it could be anytime soon. Hopefully the next time I blog I will have a new grandson

Lynard Skynard's Freebird............our song.....not everybodys cup of tea, but it has stayed with us for 25 years

To celebrate our anniversary (as we're not big on parties and a lot of fuss) we went for a quite meal at the pub where we first met over 27 years ago. The Elizabeathen has changed a wee bit since then. When we used to go most weekends, there was a disco.....now I use that term loosely...... as this was no normal seventies disco, playing Abba and The Bee Gees etc. the main music played was hard rock and heavy metal so we could all have a great head bangin' time. The main drink of the time was Snakebites (larger and cider) drank by the pint. Just the thought of a pint of Snakebite makes me feel sick noo.

My present (which was not expected) from my OH was a beautiful new gold and diamond ring...he even got the size right! woo hoo :-)

OH loved his anniversary card and we had quite a laugh at how we looked way back in 1983 on our wedding day. He had his long hair cut and my hair which was usually long and crimped was cut and flicked back in true 80's style. I had made my wedding dress and 3 bridesmaid dresses for the grand sum of £100. My auntie (who was a florist) made all my flower arrangements (silk flowers) as a wedding pressie and she also helped with my make-up. My mum spent weeks making and icing our 3 teir wedding cake. My oldest brother (year younger than me) took all our wedding photos and my youngest brother (10 years younger than me) was the only one to cry through the registry office ceramony. Our wedding reception was at The Castleton (now called The Music Bar), my parents and OH parents paid for meal and evening buffet, we had a disco and .... now please don't laugh! .. a singer/accordian player. Honeymoon ........ one night spent at King Malcolm Hotel (pressie from OH parents) ...... what a laugh that was! we ended up in a room with single beds and the people in room next door kept bangin' on the wall cause of the noise in our room ............ not what your thinking ..... we were drinking champagne and eating pieces (sandwiches) and watching Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on The Old Grey Whistle Test on the telly!!!! :-) Those were the days :-)

Still not feeling overly creative, but managed to get a Silver Wedding Anniversary card made for my husband. So it is all sealed in it's envelope ready to give him tomorrow morning before he goes to work. I wish he didn't start at 6am, never mind I'm on holiday so I can snuggle back up under the quilt for a wee while longer.

This is what I came up with, I can put it up today 'cause he never looks at my blog. I don't think he would know how to find it :)
